Lenten Spiritual Practice

Join us for this week’s Lenten Spiritual Practice on Praying with the Earth. Using the work of John Phillip Newell, this session invites us to pay attention to what surrounds us in the natural world, through creation, visible through the beauty of the earth. This session will introduce us to some of the chants from Newell’s prayer books, as well as a time of silent reflection.

Tuesday morning at 10:30 am in the worship space.

Our new pastor is Reverend Jeff Sockwell. and our two churches are sharing the new pastor. We have adjusted our worship services so that Rev. Sockwell can attend in person to both churches each Sunday.

Congregationmoves forward to embrace new technologies

FPC Edenton has embraced the new technology, allowing the sharing of a Pastor with Cann Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth City. We are looking for more members to learn the details of sound and recording for service.

Rev. Jeff Sockwell

Jeff grew up on a small family farm in McLeansville, NC. He received his B.S. degree from Appalachian State University, and his Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. He has served 3 churches as an installed pastor over the past 34 years, in Charleston, MS, New Bern, NC, and Lewisville, NC. Most recently he served as the Transitional Pastor at the Outer Banks Presbyterian Church in Kill Devil Hills, NC. At the national level, Jeff has been engaged as a consultant for Church Campaign Services in funds development. He has been active in a variety of capacities at the presbytery level, serving Salem Presbytery as a member / chair of the Executive Council, member / chair of the Commissioned Ruling Elder Committee, member of the Stewardship Committee, as well as a member of the El Buen Steering Committee. Currently he serves on the Commission on Ministry for New Hope Presbytery. He is married to Janet; they are in their 46th year of marriage. Janet retired from her work in special education and most recently as an associate director with the North Carolina Early Learning Network. They have two children: Sarah and Daniel. Jeff enjoys photography, hiking, and sea kayaking. He is passionate about all things related to coffee.

Harriet is 102 and going strong. She lives in Arrowhead Beach near members of our church family; Becky, Don, Cathy and others.
